Thrive Until He Arrives: 1 Thessalonians 3:1-13

As we live our lives we will come under fire for our faith.  How we handle this and how we respond matters to the world around us.  We need to be immersed in God’s word as we face each new day and handle the days difficulties.

Thrive Until He Arrives: 1 Thessalonians 2:1-16

God has called us to much more than waiting for Jesus to return one day.  As we purposefully wait for Jesus’ return, we are called to share the Gospel with those around us, but does our lifestyle reflect our words.  it’s time to look in the mirror face up to what we see?

Thrive Until he Arrives: 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10

Pastor Kevin begins the series in 1 Thessalonians with the necessary information we need to understand what God is saying to his church in this letter.  while it was written many years ago, the truth of the matter is same today.  The church is still facing trials of various kinds and needs to be encouraged.

Oikos: Influencing your World for Christ! Meaningful Worship

Find out the myths surrounding “Worship” and how it relates back to Oikos.

1. Oikos: A Shift in our Thinking  (Luke 19:1-10)

The current thinking in the church is that we should invite people to church.  However, what we see in the Bible is a “GO” way of thinking, not a “Come” way of thinking.  We need to change the way we view the church.  This first sermon in the Oikos series challenges how we think about ministry and mission.

2. Oikos: Four Myths About Oikos (Colossians 1:21-25)

God has called you to change your world for Christ by learning how to influence your OIKOS.  It’s easy to loose sight of this and shift our focus to helping people and doing ministry.  But that is not what God has called us to.  He has called us to focus on the main thing.

3. Oikos: Meaningful Worship (Revelation 4:9-11)

For you to be successful in reaching your world for Christ, you must begin in worship. Worship is the bedrock of our christian life.  Out of our worship flows a love for others.   Meaningful worship is developed when you spend time every day being preoccupied with Jesus.  What you are preoccupied with is what you will worship.

4. Oikos: Meaningful Relationships (Acts 2:46-47)

When we love God, we are then able to love one another.  So, we need to be engaged in meaningful relationships.  Many people are not engaged in meaningful relationships, they are just standing next to people.    So, what does a meaningful relationship look like?

5. OIKOS: Meaningful Roles (Philippians 2:1-11)

Self-promotion and servant-hood don’t mix, but it’s easy to get them mixed up.  A lot of our service can be self-serving at times.  We need to be honest with ourselves about that.  We can serve simply so that other people will like us.  We can serve to achieve selfish goals.  We can serve as sort of a bargaining chip with God, but we are called to serve.  So, how do we take up a meaningful role in our Oikos?

6. Oikos: A shift in our Ministry (Mathew 16:18 )

Oikos is a community/kingdom-building model, not a brick and mortar-building model. So, Oikos is not a sermon series, it is not a new idea.  It is a shift in our thinking, and a shift in our ministry.  This last installment of the oikos series moves us to change the world for Christ by influencing our world for Christ.
