Scripture charges church leadership with maintaining the purity and harmony of the local church. (1 Peter 5:1-4) The Eldership Team of GCBC is committed to biblically shepherding the members of the church for the sake of their spiritual health and the church’s testimony to the world.
There are times when decisions must be made, and a larger gathering of leaders is required. We affirm that the best decisions are made in community. Therefore, we call upon past elders who are no longer involved in the daily activities of church leadership, but who remain mature, wise, and helpful. These leaders, when called upon, help resolve issues, train others, offer wisdom, and speak truth and encouragement to those who need their guidance. Like the Elders at the city gate in the Old Testament, these men are available to serve when called upon.
We thank them for their service and continue to look to them for steadfast leadership in our marriages, families, relationships, and church.
Deacons serve as vital ministers in the church, focusing on practical service. Our deacons serve not only by maintaining the church facility, but by helping those who are the church with practical needs. We are greatful for the many unseen services these men provide to the congregation.
Deaconesses serve as vital ministers in the church, focusing on practical service. Our deaconesses serve in communion service, visitation of the sick, and to widows and women who are new in the church. They also serve in times of bereavement when a loved one is lost by assisting the pastors in planning memorial services. If the deacons are the hands and feet of ministry service, the deaconesses are the heart and soul of church ministry service. We are grateful for thier quiet, gentle strength as they serve.

Scripture charges church leadership with maintaining the purity and harmony of the local church. (1 Peter 5:1-4) The Leadership Team of EBC is committed to biblically shepherding the members of the church for the sake of their spiritual health and the church’s testimony to the world. This leadership is fulfilled in two key ways.
1. Encouraging Spiritual Growth
The elders will work diligently to lead the members to develop the biblical purposes in their lives as described in the Membership Covenant.
Worship: Faithfully worshipping God
Maturity: Learning and living the life of a disciple
Ministry: Serving the ministry of the church
Mission: Helping the church make disciples
The majority of the Leadership Team’s work falls into this category of leadership. However, there may be occasions in which they must take corrective action with regard to a member’s lifestyle.
2. Confronting Ungodly Behavior
The Leadership Team will diligently confront unbiblical behavior that damages the spiritual health and testimony of a member as well as the church. These behaviors may be divided into two categories.
